Buenos Aires Restaurant Review: Poke Pop Up | Tasting Argentina ...

I am always happy when a friend of mine is running a cool gig and another friend of mine?s place. Johnny and Sarah Deutsch of Magdalena?s Party (Johnny Deutsch of Buenos Aires Chili Cookoff fame ? this year?s winner) have Mychael Henry?s Poke pop up restaurant, which I have now been to twice.
Mycheal is a chef from California who does Pacific Rim inspired street food at Poke every Wednesday. This week there was a quinoa dish, some fantastic chicken wings, an udon noodle, spicy black beans, and of course Salmon Poke, his signature.
It all goes down in a fun atmosphere, with plenty of locals and expats there to liven the scene. Either Johnny or Sarah is usually on hand as well to pour drinks and with them around its guaranteed to be a good time.
If you are looking for something that is not Argentine beef, or pizza or pasta, then I highly recommend Poke on Wednesdays at Magdalena?s Party. The dishes are tasty, spicy and well presented for reasonable prices. They usually have a drink special as well which makes the food go down easy.
Congrats Mychael! (and Sarah and Johnny!)
